9500-foot elevation. 5 campsites on White Owl Lake. Fishing for brook trout in the lake. Trails from the campground lead to nearby lakes. NATURAL FEATURES White Owl Campground is located on 21 acre White Owl Lake at 10,680 feet in elevation. The surrounding landscape is small hills and typical subalpine meadows with sparse stands of spruce/fir forest. FACILITIES White Owl Campground is the least developed of the campgrounds on the Eagle Ranger District. It has six sites. Three sites are to the right of the vault toilet and are in the open meadow. These sites are designated only with a fire ring, but they are good for vehicles and trailers under 30 feet long. The other three partially shaded sites accessible by a rough road are to the left. Two of those have picnic tables as well as fire rings. The vault toilet has an accessible ramp from the small day use parking lot for those Forest visitors with disabilities. There is no trash disposal or drinking water. Broken Rib Spring 10.1 miles back down the Coffee Pot Road, Forest Road 600 is a good source of water, but it is not tested regularly by the Forest Service.
