Sylvan Lake State Park

Sylvan provides serenity in an alpine park perfect for daydreaming. Non-motorized boating and non-electrical camping offer the opportunity for quiet recreation at this gateway to the White River National Forest and the Holy Cross Wilderness. Overnight visitors can camp, stay in a cabin or lounge in a yurt while gazing at majestic mountains piercing the deep blue sky. At Sylvan Lake State Park, visitors leave the fast pace behind.
Year-round, Sylvan is a break from the daily grind. It’s home away from home. Spring, summer and fall are all about fishing, hiking, nature study, boating (non-motorized or electric trolling motors, only) and picnicking. Winter’s blanket of snow provides snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, ice fishing and access to snowmobile trails. Located in the Heart of the Rockies, Sylvan Lake State Park is a haven for those who enjoy the outdoors. At 8,500 feet in elevation, visitors to Sylvan Lake discover a high mountain scene with aspen, pine and fir forests bordering green, grassy meadows. There are a total of 44 campsites. Sites 1-34 in Elk Run Campground include sites with views of the lake or down the Brush Creek Valley. Sites 35-46 in Fisherman’s Paradise Campground are set up for side by side parking and but are popular for their location by the lake. Sites accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. There are no individual site hook ups. The camper services building provides hot showers and flush toilets during summer. Water is available. Vault toilets are available year round. Each campsite accommodates up to two tents, or one tent and one RV, with a maximum of six people per site and no more than two vehicles Pets are allowed but must be on a 6-foot leash and all pet litter must be picked up.
