Chickamauga Lake is a reservoir created by Chickamauga Dam, 20 miles northeast of Chattanooga. The dam, completed in 1940, created a 35,800-acre lake with 810 miles of shoreline. Alongside that massive body of water, 20 miles west of Cleveland, TN, a recreation area occupied 40 miles of the shoreline.
