Chickamauga Lake is a reservoir created by Chickamauga Dam, 20 miles northeast of Chattanooga. The dam, completed in 1940, created a 35,800-acre lake with 810 miles of shoreline. Alongside that massive body of water, 20 miles west of Cleveland, TN, a recreation area occupied 40 miles of the shoreline. Known today as Harrison Bay State Park, named after nearby Harrison, TN, the site claims 1,200 acres of developed land where visitors enjoy the lake’s magnificence, a professional-level golf course, hiking trails, excellent fishing, and a historical museum. Those families choosing to vacation here build memories that last a lifetime.
