Facility: South campground opened in 1913 as “America’s first Motor – Camping area”; Altitude 7,700 feet above sea level; Campus 58 acres located within 2,400 acres of the City of Denver’s Genesee Mountain Park. Historic Chief Hosa Lodge on campus, built in 1918. Colorado’s oldest standing stagecoach stop, built in 1857, adjacent to pasture with Buffalo and Elk herd located nearby in park. Beautiful mountain setting with commanding views of the Continental Divide. Genesee Mountain close by in park with 360° views of Pike’s Peak to the south; Long’s Peak to north; Continental Divide to the west; City of Denver and plains to the east. Many shaded, wooded sites, some with privacy.
