Arrowhead Resort

Explore Tours

The history of Arrowhead Resort traces back to the 1940s when the Tennessee Valley Authority opened Watts Bar Dam in 1942 and created beautiful 39,000 acre Watts Bar Lake. Shortly after this, a small resort was opened as the beginnings of Arrowhead Resort. Tom and Joan Bennett purchased the resort in 1965 and opened Arrowhead Resort on Memorial day weekend with their two children, Rob and Vicki. The resort grew through the upcoming decades and saw many changes over the years. After attending college, and a stint as an Air Force pilot, Rob and Louanne (his wife) moved back to Arrowhead in the late 1980s and grew the resort to include a restaurant, cabins, new motel, and marine sales & service. The year 2022 saw the latest chapter of the resort open with new owners. Jim (Tom and Joan's nephew) and Robin (Pranger) Clifford spent their Honeymoon at Arrowhead some 35 years ago and have been visiting ever since. In addition to Jim and Robin, their son Jimmy, brothers-in-law Nick and Gabe Pranger along with wives and kids will be involved in the ownership. Nick and Gabe have been running around the Arrowhead grounds and fishing since they were 10 and 13 years old. The Clifford and Pranger families have made many memories at Arrowhead Resort over the years. They want to be good stewards so that future generations can enjoy the same peaceful getaway we lovingly call Arrowhead Resort.
