Pigeon River Campground

With easy on-off access to I-40, this is riverside camping on the Pigeon River, surrounded by Pisgah and Cherokee National Forests and right next to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Featuring tent sites, rustic camping cabins, and full-hookup RV sites with grills and fire rings, the Pigeon River Campground has a swimming pool, camp store, picnic pavilion, private bathrooms, playground, volleyball net, and games. Private boaters will love the on-site river access ramp. Put in at Walters Power Plant and paddle 6.5 miles of Class III and IV whitewater and take out at camp, or put in at camp for a leisurely Class II float 5 miles downstream to the Freeman River Park take-out.
