Located minutes southeast of Springfield, Sangchris Lake State Park serves as a perfect home-base for enjoying outdoor activities including fishing, boating, camping, hunting, picnics and family gatherings amid native forests of oak, maple, butternut and persimmon. The park totals more than 3,000 acres, with 120 miles of shoreline on Sangchris Lake, a power station cooling lake constructed in 1964. Camping is available near the lakeshore at the Deer Run and Hickory Point campgrounds, with accessible campsites at both locations​.
