Promontory Pit Road Campground

Promontory Pit Road Campground is a dispersed camping area along Rim Road (Fr 300). The campground has access to recreational opportunities at nearby Bear Canyon Lake, as well as numerous other activities and exploration opportunities along the Mogollon Rim. From Payson, travel east on Hwy 260, turn left on Rim Rd (Fr 300) across from the Mogollon Rim Visitor Center. Continue on Fr 300 for about 8-9 miles, the road will begin to veer left. When you come to the junction between Wallace Rd (Fr 34) and Fr 300, the camping area is located along the right side of the road.
